A/N:
Gisei was written for [info]amara_anon for September's [info]iy_flashfic. I also dedicate it to [info]manonlechat, in honor of my promise to her to write a 'happy' ending someday for Sesshoumaru and Rin, after depressing us all with my Sess/Rin tragedy, Entangled. Many thanks to [info]fenikkusuken for her encouragement and editing. And to Foo~Dog and Shinigami Hilde ([info]nokomarie's daughter) for her assistance with translation. Gisie has won the Best Romance (Alt Pairing) 2006 award for the InuYasha FanGuild Awards. Thanks so much for reading, reviewing, nominating and voting for it! [info]idan_trradiak has been inspired to see a great AMV inspired by Gisei, Unseen Hero - a Sesshoumaru Tribute, go watch it!
Links: The story is only posted here on my journal and on Moonlight Flower

I've now done a thorough edit to address the issues you've raised, including ensuring Rin is a little more sympathetic; clarify the Sess as father-figure point; the symbolism of her daughter and add a smidge more squish at the end. I appreciate all your input and kind words! I will be posting this on mm.org and ff.net eventually, although I plan to post it as part of a new story/collection. Stay tuned.

Lovely Ses/Rin pics - I'm looking forward to reading this, but I'm afraid I'll have to print it out for later because of the length. Have a pleasant Sunday!

Wow!
This was... Amazing,awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping-incredible! Just incredible (but even that doesn't do it justice)! It's one of THE BEST Sess/Rin romances I've ever read. The accompanying illustrations are lovely, too.

Hi Fano,

I finally got to sit down and read Gisei this morning. It perfectly suited both my angst-cravings and my inner romantic. Thanks so much.

Squees like Rin in a flower filled meadow! Thanks for directing me here! Another epic, well written and researched fic!? Yeah! And now combined lovely artwork!? Yippee!

Sighs.

I managed to read the first chapter before the clock dictated that I had to head off to work...will now be finishing the rest tomorrow with some lovely take out thai food! I have a feeling I'm going to want to go slow and savor this one! Thank you in advance for all your efforts and for bringing another lovely little tale to the rest of us devoted Sess-tachi shippers!

oh yay! I'm glad you like it so far. please take your time. it was heavy to write and i know it's heavy to read....

unlike "Engangled" (where there couldn't be a sequel) this one stimulated some interesting thoughts.... just need to step back from it a bit to let them simmer some more.

you'll have to let me know if you think i did sessmom justice in the end....

Thanks for your kind words about Gisei. Of course you can friend me. I probably won't friend you back until we've talked a bit more in my journal and/or on other journals, but I'm always looking for new friends.
Snowfall[info]snow_fall on May 7th, 2007 03:27 am (UTC)
Thank you. Many eons ago, after reading some very dark rin/sess fics, I gave up on them. I was pleased by yours. Hopefully, I can find more happy endings. I am currently reading one of wicked-oni's. *cross my fingers for a happy ending* ^_^

Snow
Too Many Voices In My Head...: Sess_Rin[info]alterfano on May 7th, 2007 03:37 am (UTC)
i like Wicked_oni's stuff. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you want happy ending sess/rin, DON'T read "Entangled" by me. However, after Entangled, I wrote Gisei to try to give them a happy ending... and kinda succeeded. I didnt' give up tho and since then have written Wish and Home to try to get it right. I think I've finally succeeded. Just in time before I angst them up again in another one in the works. Sigh. I just feel that their relationship is inherantly tragic.
Snowfall[info]snow_fall on May 7th, 2007 03:41 am (UTC)
Ah, I had seen a previous note concerning "Entangled" having a dark ending. I will check out Wish and Home. Eh, I try to stay away from the dark side. Heheh. ^_^

Snow
Too Many Voices In My Head...[info]alterfano on May 7th, 2007 03:46 am (UTC)
well, that's often a wise thing to do. I like to stay away from it too, but my muses sometimes have other ideas.
Snowfall[info]snow_fall on May 7th, 2007 03:49 am (UTC)
I know what you mean. I still haven't decided if I'm going to let Kagome, Inuyasha, and Sesshoumaru live through one that I am writing. I had intended to kill them all off. Still debating whether or not it would be worth raising the ire of my readers. Hm, decide, decide, decide. *snicker*

Snow
Too Many Voices In My Head...[info]alterfano on May 7th, 2007 03:57 am (UTC)
hm.. maybe you should read "Entangled". It might cure you of the urge.
Snowfall[info]snow_fall on May 7th, 2007 04:02 am (UTC)
I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever finish it. I started it when I had a tumor in 2004 and I gave Kagome cancer. There were other obstacles accumulated over the centuries with the men. I guess that in my dark hour, I wanted the characters to be sorrowful too. But, I've seen authors take out their moods on readers and I'm not sure that I can do that. Perhaps if I gave clear warning, it would work. I could definitely do a better job since I won't be as subjective. It's gathering dust right now, just as so many of my fics are. Keh.

Snow
Too Many Voices In My Head...[info]alterfano on May 7th, 2007 04:14 am (UTC)
hm. well, you might ask yourself what the story could be about that would make the pain and suffering "worth it" for the characters. there's usually a lesson in the darkness somewhere. that's what i focus on to try to get myself to slog through the dark stuff (tho Entangled was an exception to that).

keeping up with your ideas is always tough to do. i've got too many on the shelf, never started or too slowly progressing... too bad we can't get paid for this
Snowfall[info]snow_fall on May 7th, 2007 04:25 am (UTC)
Yes, there is more than one lesson. The main lesson is that there is always something to be gained despite our circumstances, that we don't live in a vacuum, etc. I guess you could say that it is also the several steps of grieving that is taught in psychology...although I've forgotten them now. And the smaller things that go along with it.

And it starts with the perspective of a cold Taiyoukai who must make life interesting; otherwise, he would die of sheer boredom. I would put a bit of his musings here, but I've had things taken too often. When will I ever learn? LOL
