Who is Fano?
I am a marketing consultant and mother who has a passion for InuYasha [my current fandom obsession]. I tend to go through fandoms every couple of years and this is the first one I've written fanfic for. [Well, except for a brief toying with Star Wars a while back.] I actually haven't been writing much the last year or so for personal reasons. Real Life is just too out of control. By I try to keep my fingers in by following the manga and kibbutzing here on LJ. Maybe I'll get back to writing Inu stuff more. Maybe not. We'll see what life has to mete out in the next year or so. I still love to write, however, so even if it's not Inu, it will be something.... For whatever I write under the Alterfano pen name, I'll be announcing it here on my journal.

In real life, I live a busy and full life and am a very happy person. But I always have to have an obsession. And right now, IY fanfic is it! On my journal, you can find out random things about me or peruse my fanfics (see the links along the left). I hope you'll enjoy whatever you find here of interest to you. If you'd like to learn more about my writing, check out my Writer's Journey and/or my LJ Profile.

In addition to writing, I like goofing around with graphics. I'm not very good. But I've made a bunch of 100x100 icons for me and my friends (feel free to take and I appreciate credit). I also have a Deviant Art account where I hope to post more graphic manipulations to go along with my poetry, drabbles and other fics. You can friend me there too!

Feel free to request friending or contact me.

What's a 'Fano'?

Well, Fano is not my real name.  Because I have a professional presence on the Internet, I couldn't afford for clients and other professional contacts to find my fanfic, so I had to create a pseudonym that had to do with my fandom obsessions. I wanted 'ALTERego', but of course that was taken. Since this was all about my FAN identity, I just started combining variations of 'alter' and 'fan' until I disccovered AlterFano wasn't taken anywhere (big surprise, huh?). After I got over here on LJ, where I had more of an identity that interacted with other identies (i.e., people), I shortened it to Fano, which I thought was kinda cute. My real name is only 4 letters too, so it sortof fit. I do have one other pseudonym that I write under, but there are only two ways to find out what it is. Click here if you already know both of us [flocked to those who do]. Or, friend me and if I find you've become good friends to us both, I'might let you in on the secret. Am I a tease? I hope so!

Who's that in default my icon?

[current default] This wild haired wonder was gifted to me by my friend Forthrightly who is a wonder at icons. The theme of this little beauty is quite fitting and she gave it to me for a very good reason.

This is Nymphadora Tonks (HP fandom) as envisioned and illustrated by [info]mcgray I love Tonk's character. Sassy, humorous, plucky, bit of a chameleon and very very capable. She's kindof Harry's big sis, which is sometimes how I feel in fandom... and this is very much how I'd like to envision myself - beautiful and funky all at the same time. I think [info]mcgray did a phenomenal job at interpreting her here (without a reference) and am deeply honored that she'd let me use the image as my icon. Yea! It was my son's idea, and he has great taste!

This was my default icon for a bit and I still like it. Her name is Akima and she was the heroine in a animated movie called Titan A.E. I loved her character. Strong. Sexy. Smart. No pushover. And she found love with a sexy great guy. She's also pretty. This particular pic was a tad too cross-eyed for me, tho, so I ditched it in favor of Tonks.

This was the icon I used to use for my default. Made by [info]amara_anon. I still love it as it reflects how I see myself most of the time. Reflective, quiet, appreciative of beauty but w/ a bit of a twist - appreciating the irony of things. It's now my default icon on Deviant Art.

MoonDog was my original icon and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him. The full pic (which you can't see all here) is very mystical. Inu!human is surrounded by the phases of the moon.

So why do I have Magician-Miroku in the icon to this post? Because in my real life, my professional archetype is the Magician. I try to specialize in turning aspirations into reality for my clients and for myself. I am also a very spiritual person, a Unitarian Universalist following a practice I've cobbled together for myself of buddhism, paganism and smatterings of yoga/hindu symbolism [and I'm a cultural Christian.] I also love Miroku dearly. So this icon, made by [info]ashtari, resonates deeply with me on very many levels, and it actually gives some of the greatest insight into who I really am. And if you've read this far, you deserve to know that!
