Summary:
The battle against Naraku has come to a tragic end, leaving InuYasha, Kagome, Miroku and Sango to sort out the dreams that lie ahead and the nightmares not yet behind them. Three one-shot stories form separate "movements" of a single "suite." Integrated with an original poem. Includes endnotes. The Three One-Shots include:
Victory's Nightmare: InuYasha is haunted by nightmares in the aftermath of their victory against Naraku. Will his strength alone be enough to save himself and Miroku?
Victory's Dream Kagome hangs between life and death, needing to complete her miko journey in order to return to this world. Will InuYasha's love be enough to bring her back to the pain of living?
Victory's Reward: Sango and Miroku rest in the hopes that their ordeal is over. A ghost of pain returns to haunt them and they must put the past behind them in order to move on.

[info]l_poetica Well done, friend Fano! I enjoyed the entire suite; each can stand alone and work well together as a coherent whole. I enjoyed your poem as well. Thank you for a wonderful read!
[info]nokomarie Still like it. Especially evil Kohaku. He was iccky.
[info]doggieearlover I just love the whole package. It was a very nice piece of work!
[info]silverontherose Just wow. That was probably the best thing I've read since House of the Moon finished. You've done an absolutely stunning job on the characters and with the depth of the story. Bravo. *sits back in stunned silence, soaking it in*
[info]inuyashaloverr That was incredible. It really was. But this was definitely different. And even tho there plight was grave, you actually threw a little humor in there as well.

*lovelovelove* This turned into an amazing trilogy! If only you knew what you birthed back on that flashfic... Best work you've done so far. Absolutely THE BEST.
[info]ashtari These are wonderful, Fano. I bow to your skill. ;)
FrameofMind Very impressive, and quite moving. I spent a lot of time copy-pasting this title from list to list during IYFG noms last quarter, but I never actually got a chance to read it until now (*grin*). Needless to say, I'm very glad I did so.

You've done a fantastic job of capturing the rawness of the group's pain (both physical and emotional) following the final battle -- something which is often attempted, but not often accomplished. I also find it interesting that the entire story -- dark as it is -- consists of the *aftermath* of Naraku's destruction (which was obviously the point of the story, but it nonetheless offers a unique perspective on the event). The whole piece is extremely vivid and captivating -- and I love the fact that you were able to maintain a significant amount of tension without resorting solely to the constant threat of character death. Although death was sometimes a possibility, separation, indifference, and psychological damages were the real dangers. And despite everything, it all worked out essentially alright in the end. Excellent.

Also, major kudos on the scene between Inuyasha and Kagome just as she finally woke up. In addition to the fact that I think I stopped breathing during the entire thing (who has time to breathe when you're that into a story? *grin*), it felt very fresh and organic and genuine -- which is not easy to accomplish in a scene that has basically been written five billion times over by as many authors. Very well done. And although Kagome's new somberness worried me a bit for a while there, once she proved that she could still laugh (at the very end), everything came together. Then I could see that she had gained this new maturity without losing that character defining capacity for cheerfulness.

In short, I loved it...
[info]ranuel This story is great! The almost blanket scenario had me laughing every time I thought of it since I first read this yesterday. And the ending is chilling.
[info]gen50life continues, even if an epic journey has ended. it leaves the way open for perhaps another epic journeyor perhaps, if they are lucky, shorter ones with less pain.... may we all be as lucky

Hey! Sorry I've been so unavailable lately...RL issues that have hammered me. Digging out from under the rubble right now, and went over to read your 'little symphony' for fun. Thank you for a wonderful read!
