He really MEANS it! There's no irony or anything. Just... Sess calling it as he sees it. As I recall he doesn't have reason to believe Rin is anywhere near the village so all those humans are of no consequence to him.

While I agree that Sesshoumaru isn't (yet) compassionate to properly care about a bunch of strangers, his tactics did actually change. Until then, he'd been reacting to Naraku's attacks. The minute Naraku tried to hold everyone to ransom with a human village, Sesshoumaru dived straight for the core of Naraku and attacked him and the jewel directly.

Whether or not Sesshoumaru knows or cares, his action is the best thing to do, from the villagers' points of view. Naraku's already raining shouki down so badly the villagers are fleeing for their lives and, instead of doing anything about that, Inuyasha's group momentarily froze when Naraku made the threat. By backing off or hesitating, that just allows Naraku to keep attacking.

By attempting to destroy Naraku and the jewel directly, Sesshoumaru would actually ensure that Naraku was used up in a single moment and location. If doing somthing or nothing can get people killed, then surely it's best to end the threat as quickly as possible, rather than prolonging suffering with hesitation or backpedalling.

It's not that I think he's oozing compassion here, but I don't think he's entirely immune, either.

Sesshoumaru was not willing to negotiate with Naraku when using more terrorist tactics, I guess. I was conflicted about whether he just didn't care or was simply calling Naraku's bluff, or even a little of both - but I agree that it seemed SO in character - Sesshoumaru the bad-ass. Haven't seen him in awhile.

I'm hoping for Kagome and Naraku in the jewel, but my hopes for a heart-to-heart or struggle will likely be dashed. She'll likely be zombified and Inuyasha will save her, or s/t like that, hmph.

i think Naraku is once more morphing and is one with the jewel. the last few chapters have been full of observations by him and inu that he's merged with the jewel, and as we've seen throughout the series the form he takes is rarely his tru self. so the fact that sess whacked him doesn't mean much as long as the jewel survives.

So if Dicks can't cut it... does that mean Breasts will??

I do like this chapter. I guess RT took care of Shippou's inability to maintain a stable shape very nicely.

I though don't like SNaraku's looks. His nose does have that Pinnochio look to it... must measure to see if it's growing. Which is kind of fitting for him being a Puppet Master. but is it SNaraku's real true form? or are we going to end this on the Onigumo note?

So Yes!! To Sesshoumaru!! He only cares for those closest to him and now they are safely away doesn't let anything get in his way of offing SNaraku! The village - Collateral damage - no problem... no sweat off his brow.

and finally Kagome is showing backbone again and attempting to strike/purify SNaraku... though she does look pretty doing nothing while waiting for SNaraku's permission to attack. (I can see Kikyou rolling her eyes at Kagome from the great beyond)

Though it doesn't fit in with her character in this series and that is to have someone else save her from most certain doom (undead miko arc not valid as the miko was trying to get Kagome to learn something and free her.. or just didn't see her as a worthy opponent).

Nah, it's hard to beat photosynthesis for sheer global pollution ability. Ancient photosynthetic organisms spewed out a substance that poisoned the entire planet.... absolutely devastated life as was known at the time. The planet has never recovered.

That substance being oxygen. Anaerobic life does still manage to cling onto existence in some places in the world, but for them, the planet's become a very hostile place. And even for us aerobic lifeforms, oxygen's still toxic.

We haven't beaten photosynethesis for toxic dumping ability just yet. :)
